THE WRITE TO VOTE

A staged Reading of Short Plays and Poetry

Directed by Kit Briner, the reading features Julia Allen, Joan Barere, Kit Briner, TJ Chila, Gwen Gardiner, Elayne Gordon, John Traggianese, Richard Warren, and Jordan Weisblatt.

Through humor, provocation, and some deeply personal moments, the evening looks at what happens when political labels, assumptions, anger, technology, and even our own certainty get between us — and what can happen when we take the time to see the person behind them.

The Write to Vote features original work by Beatriz Allen, Julia Allen, Kit Briner, Gwen Gardiner, and Orna Rawls and includes:

Don’t Confuse Me with the Facts by Orna Rawls — a comic look at civic participation and the sometimes surprising ways people make political choices.

Crossing the Aisle by Kit Briner — an exploration of partisan loyalty, individual conscience, and what happens when someone refuses to fit neatly into a political tribe.

Two Women on a Bench by Beatriz Allen — two strangers meet at a public protest and discover that grief, loneliness, love, aging, and human connection are far more complicated than the signs they are carrying.

Reverse Tin Man by Gwen Gardiner — a look beyond politics at technology, empathy, and what may be lost when the tools designed to connect us begin replacing human contact.

The Noise Between Us by Kit Briner — a reflection on how fear, anger, exhaustion, and ready-made answers can drown out our ability to listen to someone who sees the world differently.

Join us for an evening that may not provide easy answers – but just might offer something worth talking about.
